I wrote this a while ago, but then I just forgot to post it. So here it is.
May is my absolute favourite person in the book; she is so sweet hearted and would never wish for something bad to happen to anyone, no matter what. There is no one similar to May, she really is special. May thinks a lot, sometimes too much, but usually she comes up with the most fantastic thoughts, that few understand. She is a special person in many ways she can feel all the pain of others. All this things are reasons why May is my favourite person. So when May committed suicide, I just wanted to throw the book away! It destroyed the whole book experience for me, and it was not as much fun to continue reading. May was such s big part of the book.

An interesting thought. I have always seen May as a sweetheart too, but mostly as a wired girl. I guess because I could not relate to her in any way.
SvarSlettHowever I agree with you, I was disappointed when she died the way she did. That she decided to end her own life like her sister did.
May is an important person in the book I think. Mostly because she is so loving, just like you pointed out. Her love for her family and other people around her is unconditional, and her carrying as well. Great post :)
I think the fact that May commited suicide was a good thing. Not because I didn't like her, because I agree with you in her being a big part of the book, but because it wasn't expected. Something unexpected happened, and it happened to one of the interesting characters! It may sound a bit weird, but I think it spiced up the story, something which in my opinion was at that point kind of needed.
